The process of filling cavities is fairly simple and can be completed at our practice in a short appointment. Fillings are used to repair teeth that have been damaged due to decay or other wear. Traditionally cavities have been filled with amalgam, (metal composite) but alternatively can also be filled with a tooth-colored composite material to restore a natural look and feel of the tooth.

Inlays Onlays & Crowns

When a tooth is damaged or decayed it’s function will diminish over time and the decay will spread. To avoid further damage, the tooth needs to be repaired.

A dental inlay is a solid porcelain piece to cover large cavities on the top interior of a molar. The procedure is  relatively simple and straightforward. A local anesthetic is administered. Once the area is numb the decay is removed.  The inlay is made from porcelain with an impression of the tooth. Coloring is matched to your tooth.

It sounds like an excellent option to repair and restore a decayed or fractured tooth, Right!

Onlays and crowns are very much the same, but cover larger areas of the tooth. The onlay covers the biting surface including cuspids. While the crown is a porcelain cap that fits over or replaces the visible portion of the tooth above the gums.

Inlays, onlays and crowns provide an invisible dental restoration that look like your natural teeth and they are more durable than regular fillings.
